Pushpa Dahal, also known as Prachanda, is a prominent Nepalese politician and the 74th Prime Minister of Nepal.

He was born as Chhabi Lal Dahal in 1954 in a peasant family and was the eldest of eight children. At the age of six, his family was relocated from the mountainous region of Pokhara to the plains of Terai as part of King Mahendra's nationalist policy of "Nepalization of the South."
