          Vivian Blaine was an American actress and singer, best known for her original portrayal of the character Miss Adelaide in the musical "Guys and Dolls".

          She began appearing in local productions in 1934 and embarked on a concert tour in 1937, performing with various dance ensembles. In 1942, her agent - and future husband - Manny Franks, secured her a contract with Twentieth Century-Fox.
